WHATS YOUR IDOL? ~ By Christian Author Elena Ramirez

idolatry |īˈdälətrē|nounworship of idols.• extreme admiration, love, or reverence for something or someone : we must not allow our idolatry of art to obscure issues of political significance.

I am not too thrilled with this definition of Idolatry, from the dictionary, because it does not mention, that it is offensive to God.  We don’t talk too much about “Idolatry” in the church, or on Christian television.  But it is something that is mentioned quite often in the Bible, with examples, and it offended God.

For, if we really think about it, we can relate it, to what God sees.  And he sees, that we place a lot of things above him.  Even now….Lord, help us to see this, even here as I pray, in my Prayer of Hope.

This “Just My Thoughts” posting, is not, to condemn anyone.  Because if anything, it must start with me, to write something, that will express, just an awareness.  But not condemnation, There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ.  Romans 8:1.  But if it convicts us, to open our eyes, to be aware, to see where we might be going wrong, to turn away from that, then I am doing my job.  And so, I must even say here, that I myself need to be careful of this, in my walk with my Lord Jesus.

When I was just a little girl, I was aware of this.  For in our searching for a church, (see in my posts, “Its not Religion its Relationship,” ) I was introduced to a church, that would bow down to statues.  As a young little girl, my mother had been teaching me the Ten Commandments.  Something, I recommend, we teach all of our children…… The Bible also tells us that we should do that…Deuteronomy 6:7

Anyway, the first commandment, God gives us,  is “THOU SHALT HAVE NONE OTHER gODS BEFORE ME.   Deuteronomy 5-8.

Then right after that scripture, another commandment;

Thou shalt not make thee any graven image or any likeness, of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth.  Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them….nor serve them:  For I the Lord thy God am a Jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. 

God looks at that as hate.  That you hate Him.  Now I know this may offend some people, but I really don’t care, but I need to say this, because this is something, we need to look at further, and as I under lined it, because God mentions this.  

I have to ask….Is there something you bow down to?  Of an image of someone?  Even a photo….or a graven image, like a charm or something.  Another thought though is….One could, have an idol, I guess,  and relate it to someone who is dead, or someone who is in heaven who did good works…saints etc.  

And then, there are some people, who are really into their angels and I believe in angels too, But I don’t pray to my angel, and I certainly do not bow to them.  That scripture is pretty specific, and we need to take it to heart, and in obedience.

See, we have to be aware, and see who is in charge, and that is God.  And he says in that same chapter, that he is a jealous God.  (See my post on “Why God is jealous”)  

So is there something we have turned into an idol?  Anyway, the thing, I want to do here, is just make us aware of what we are spending our time on, our energy, our resources, and yes even our money.  Are we making these things into idols, and they take time from God?  Are we putting them before God?  Do we insist, on doing these things, especially if they are hurting our spirits?  

The thing is I believe, we need to know, and make note of these things, and ask God, to help us, and to turn from them.  And I am not saying all of these things are bad.  Some would be, if it controls you, like substances, drinking, smoking, etc.  Drugs.  These would be idols, that have you in bondage.  But it is bad, if it stops your blessings, and your relationship from God flowing.

But I am also talking about things that we may normally do, that take the place of God.  For an example….in the morning, what is your first action?  Do you turn the television on, or do you pray?  Do you spend your tithes and offerings, before you give?  Would you rather go to a sports event, then to church?….

I think if we really study ourselves, we can find ways to improve, in our walk with God, to see if there are things, that are taking priority, that we are turning into idols.

A Prayer of Hope….

Father, I pray, that we would look at this, and see, if there is anything we are spending so much time, on that it is turning into an idol.  Strangely, I am even thinking of worry, how we can get consumed in the habit of it, and it becomes an “idol”  Lord, I pray this for myself as well, to be oh so careful, not to put anything above you.  In my relationship with you.  Yes, I know you are a jealous God, and you are teaching me what you like and do not like, in your beautiful personality.  I do not want to offend you.  That is why, I am so glad for your word, your truth, the holy gospel, the Bible, that teaches us all what you like, what your commandments are, and I know, as we take to heart, this, in obedience, it is only for our good, and does us all good.  Lord, I pray, never to offend you in this, thank you for teaching me your commandments, even at an early age.  To not have any idols before you.  Thank you, that my relationship with you, is based on what Jesus Christ did, and by his blood, I have access to your throne, in relationship with you.  I do not have to go through any rituals, but your love, and truth.  In Jesus name,  Amen

A PRAYER OF JESUS TO SEE HIS GLORY ~ By Christian Author Elena Ramirez

“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Jesus loves you…Did you know that?  And as I read this, I came back to this scripture, from one of my earlier posts, of prayer, I listed, with Jesus praying.  Easter has passed, but if you know him.  He is not in the tomb, he is in your heart.  I can’t help but feel how precious his love is toward us.  And as I meditate on this, I realize, how much he does love us.  Folks, he wants us to be with him, and to see the glory……I can only imagine it in my mind.  But, in my feeble attempt to describe it, I suppose it would be like constant sunshine, with beautiful colors, surrounding Christ.  The holiness, of our Lord, is truly the light of the world.  And thats what Christ wants for us as well.  To live and dwell in that holiness.  With him.  Would you trade that, by not making the commitment to love him?  Would you trade that, because you want to be stubborn, in your unbelief, that there is no God?  If you knew, for sure, would you deny God?   The only way you can know for sure, is by opening your heart, to believe, repenting, and let God, do the rest….He is God.  By not taking that chance, is denying yourself, the greatest gift we can have…..His Presence.  The beauty of his glory….May God bless your day.

Father, my Lord Jesus, compelled, to write more of your prayers, here, I cannot help and see your love for us.  How great your love, is, for each one of us, and Thank you, for the gift of my Salvation.  Thank you, for forgiving me, of my sins.  Lord, I thank you, that I know, that I know, my name is in the Book of Life.  Because I do believe.  And you have shown me, who you are.  Faith has done that.  Thank you.  May the glory of your love, shine in my heart, and that of other believers.  For we believe….In the name above all names, my Lord Jesus.  Amen

Dear friend, I don’t know you, but God does.  And I really don’t think it is by chance you are reading this.  It is by divine appointment.  Today you can make a choice, to believe, and repent, and make it right with God, or you can reject this.  But if you do make the choice to believe….God will show you things that you could never know, By believing, but by denying him.  You will never, really know…You won’t know the true peace, that surpasses all understanding.  You won’t know or experience his healing, touch.  The true joy, that comes from living for him.  And oh so much more.  His glory….covers more than we could even think or conceive.  It is fruit, that we have being on the vine with him….But, All it takes is that one ounce of faith, to know what Christ did for you on the cross, and to truly seek him.  You will find love, you will find God.  Don’t lose the chance, we never know, when we will leave this earth.  But this way, you will always know.  You will know, your name is in the Book of life, in heaven, and there you will experience his glory…If you live for Christ, because he died for you…..Below is a link.  Say the prayer of Salvation, and trust God.

LET ME GIVE YOU REST FOR YOUR WEARINESS ~ By Christian Author Elena Ramirez

COME TO ME, ALL OF YOU WHO ARE WEARY AND CARRY HEAVY BURDENS, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST.  TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU.  LET ME TEACH YOU, BECAUSE I AM HUMBLE AND GENTLE, AND YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.  MATTHEW 11:28-29

Father, especially mindful, in this Holy week, of the sacrifice, of you my Lord, Jesus.  I am reminded, of all that you suffered and went through.  For each and every one of my sins, has been taken to the cross.  And the plan, of the enemy has been defeated.  Even here, I rest and take a moment, and think of you, and speak to you from my heart.  For I do seek you, when I am weary, and when I have received my rest.  I seek you, because you are my Lord, and in your presence, is pleasures, forevermore.  Lord, when I cannot handle the cares, of this every day living, and I feel overwhelmed, I do seek you.  To relieve the pressure of life.  Yet, I have learned, to seek you, even more so, when all is well.  To maintain, my relationship with you.  You have taught me, to seek you, with all my heart, all my soul, and all my might.  And in this place, of seeking you, I know, that I know, all things are possible with you.  I am comforted, at all times, as I take your yoke, for yes it is easy.  I cannot even imagine, what life would be like without you.  Nor do I want to know.  I don’t know why someone would deny you.  But I won’t, for I know the difference.  For no matter what I may go through, I know, with you, all things are possible.  You have shown me, you are with me, you will not leave or forsake me.  Oh I take joy and comfort in that.  My savior.  You have shown me so very much Lord.  I Thank you Lord, for letting me bring my burdens, and my joy to you.  And because of that, even more so, I praise you.  With love, In Jesus name,  Amen

p.s.  I add this, as an afterthought, but do you see, in the scripture above, where Christ says, he will give rest for your souls.…Dear ones, I just sense, we need to all make sure we are right with Christ.  For our souls are at stake.  Be careful, and make sure your relationship, is right with Christ.  Before we leave this world…..for we never know.  That way you truly can “rest” assured you know you have a place in his kingdom, and in the book of life……

LOOKING FOR THE LOST ~ By Christian Author Elena Ramirez

That title, caught your eye.   But you do feel lost, don’t you?  There is something missing in your life?  You feel dull, motionless.  As if you are just going through the motions.  Nothing really holds any true meaning.  Sometimes, you self-medicate yourself.  Trying to avoid this dull, lonely feeling.  So you use, substances, people, and even money, to try to get you through this sadness.  That does not go away.  It is always there.  You find yourself getting angry, and that worries you, because you feel like you could snap at any moment.  There is no true peace.  And as the word of God says, there is no peace to the wicked.  Wicked?  You never thought of that before, but as you think about it, yes, thats true.  The reason, you have been places, that were very dark.  You have read books, that were very dark, and seen things, in movies, that were very dark.  Scary….You have also done terrible things, so ugly, that you think you have gone past, a place of no return.  Your innocence was taken.  You carry the weight of it.  And you may have been violated.  It was not your fault, yet you were used, and abused.  You really do not want to live this lifestyle, but thats who you are….So you go with the flow of it, and think that it is normal to live like that.  Yet, You led a normal life, according to most standards.  But, there has been that darkness.  And the fear.  You are so afraid.  But you do not know, what to do to stop the fear, or to get out of darkness, or to have true peace.

But God does….And he sees you right now.  He is calling you.  He wants you to know, he loves you.  So much, that if you would just give in to accepting him, search for him, believe his word.  He would change you, change your circumstance.  He wants you to know, he is able to deliver you from the things that tempt you, and hold you in bondage.  For each time, you go to those darkened places, the devil, ties you tighter, and tighter to him.  You see it.  And you think their is no escape.

But God wants you to know.  That he can break those chains off of you.  He broke those chains off of himself, when he suffered, died and was resurrected.  So, he can do it for you.  Thats the very reason why Jesus came.  To destroy the works of the devil. For it was part of Gods plan, that Jesus, would come, for each one of us.  Yes, the scripture is true.  John 3:16.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever would believe, would not perish, but have everlasting life.

And you have to understand, this great truth….Salvation is to be found in him alone.  In all the world, there is no one else whom God has given, who can save us.  Acts 4:12

Christ is calling you…He says, All that the Father gives to me, and those that come to me, I will in no way cast out.  John 6:37.

So, what do you have to do? Confess, with your mouth, Jesus as Lord, and believe…in your heart, that God raised him, from the dead, you shall be saved.  Romans 10:9

Heres a Prayer of Hope….A prayer of Salvation.

Father, I know, I am a sinner, I ask for forgiveness, of my sins.  I see this darkness, this wickedness, this loneliness, that scares me.  I want peace, and joy in my life.  Lord, I am taking a step to you.  I want to live right.  Who wouldn’t?  Lord, I do see that I need a change.  Help me.  Show me, who I can be.  Lord, Come into my heart.  I do accept your son, Jesus Christ, as my Lord and savior.  Fill me with your Holy spirit.  I believe, he suffered, died, and was buried, and was resurrected for my sins.  I believe, and see, and hope, to know you.  Break these chains off of me.  Now, and even as I pray this, I know, angels are rejoicing over me.  I am free.  And I know, when I die, and I pray, it won’t be for a long time.  But I know, I will be with you.  For eternity.  Thank you Lord.  In Jesus name.  Amen

Now all you have to do, is renew your mind.  You have to get rid of that stinking thinking….From the past.  Start reading your Bible.  It will comfort you, change you, and you will see the transformation.  I recommend the chapter of John first, in the new testament.

Then tell others, because there is a change in you now.  You are free!!

Your not sure why you are reading this, because you don’t normally look at things that pertain to Christianity.

It is not by chance you read this, or by chance, you let this come into your heart.  God was looking for you.   He did not want you to miss this….opportunity.

Obedient, I write this for you….Because I was also once lost, but now found.  The reason, I can describe all of those things above, is because that was once me.  But now, and it has been a long time, since, I have peace, joy, and true hope.  Even though, in this world things are not perfect.  No one, and I say no one can take my peace and joy.  Because NOW God is my defender, my comfort, and my friend.  This is why I write this.  Because I have been there, done that, and no longer am I in bondage.

If you need prayer….write to me.

But don’t forget, and this is very important, find a Bible based church.  Where the word of God is taught, and preached.  And Look for the true love, that God can only give.

If the love is not there….don’t stay.  God has a place for you….Don’t ever, ever let people dictate, whether or not, you should or should not follow God.  Don’t be ashamed.  This is not religion, this is now, about relationship with Christ, and he will never leave or forsake you…..
